The Wikimedia Foundation has expressed interest in establishing a linkage with Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University.
On 12th Jan. 2011, a group of Wikipedia’s volunteers led by Mr. Ting Chen,Chair of the International Wikimedia Board paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor who was represented at the meeting by the DVC (Administration), Prof. P.K.Wainaina. Thereafter, the team visited the School of Education and made a presentation on the upcoming Wikipedia Schools project. Later, Mr. Ting Chen paid a visit to Confucius Institute at KU, Doctor Martin Njoroge , the Director of Confucius Institute hosted the group. During the visit, Mr. Ting Chen said possible areas of collaboration include cultural studies, research and textbooks compiling. Dr. Martin Njoroge and Mr. Jia Bingbo lecturer, Confucius Institute, attended the 10th anniversary of Wikimedia and the launch of Wikipedia Schools project in Strathmore University.
