Ruiru Campus which is situated on a fifteen (15) acre piece of land was established in May 2004. The campus is located near Ruiru town, a mere eight (8) kilometers, away from Kenyatta University main campus along Nairobi – Thika highway, about thirty (30) kilometers from Nairobi city and about sixteen (16) kilometers from Thika town. The scenery is admirable, the atmosphere is serene and the environment is most conducive to learning. (View Map) The campus serves regular students and institutional based. It also serves students for Institute of Open learning during tutorial sessions, sit in cats and when sitting for their examinations.Currently, Ruiru Campus has about 1500 students pursuing various degree programmes.

Staff: Teaching coordination is carried out at the main campus and there are no members of teaching staff stationed at the campus.
Learning Facilities: The campus has all the necessary amenities, appreciable infrastructure and a number of facilities for academic purposes. The physical facilities include: -

Library:

A well stocked and equipped library with student capacity of over 500 students.

Biological Lab:
|
Fully equipped laboratory for zoological and plant microbial science practicals. It is under the full management of the Biological departments.

Chemistry Lab:
|
Fully equipped laboratory for chemistry practicals, maintained by Chemistry department.
|
|
Physics Lab:
|
Fully equipped for the physics practicals, maintained by Physics department.
|
|
Environmental management Lab.
|
This is for environmental management practicals, Fine Art and Library Science practicals.
|
|
BioChemistry Lab:
|
This is for industrial chemistry, medical laboratory, and Biochemistry practicals.

Computer Lab.
|
The computer laboratories enable students to access internet resources.

Other services available to students at the campus are: -

Catering services.
|
The cafeteria and the restaurant are both operational, with the restaurant offering special rates for students pay as you eat system.
|

Accommodation:
|
Although accommodation is not guaranteed, the services are available to first come first served.
|
|
Health services.
|
Health Unit services are available throughout the week i.e seven (7) days a week and a doctor and an ambulance attendant available at the Health Unit every night. The ambulance stands by to transfer students to other Health facilities in case of need.

Students Welfare:
|
A Deputy Dean of students takes care of both Ruiru and Parklands campus students. He is assisted by a male and female Hostel Wardens.
|
|
Leisure, Sports and games:
|
Recreational facilities are available. These include a well maintained standard size swimming pool, football pitch, basket pitch and many others.
|
|
Students body:
|
Students are represented by an elected campus representative, two resident representative students (male & female) and two non-resident representative students (male and female)
|
Other key facilities available are the cyber café, Guidance and Counseling services and a power generator that is on the stand by in case of power rationing.

| Recarpeting of lecture halls |
To ensure that the learning environment is conducive enough for academics, the major lecture halls are being recarpeted, like the Assembly Hall, one of our biggest lecture hall. |
