Location and History

Nakuru campus is a public institution of Kenyatta University .The Nakuru campus is located in the central business district of Nakuru Municipality (KU plaza.) The campus which occupies the entire KU plaza is located on the Kijabe road/ on the lower side and fronts the main Nakuru /Eldoret highway on the upper side.

The campus is easily accessible, visible and offers an ideal learning environment. It has executive lecture rooms, computer lab, library, among other facilities for both post and undergraduate students. The University wants to extend its services in the Rift region by particularly targeting employees of various organizations in Nakuru and surroundings, high school graduates and students from other Institutions who are attracted to Kenyatta university uniqueness in terms of Quality Assurance.

Kenyatta University established the City Centre in October 2009 in line with the University's Strategic and Vision Plan and Kenya Vision 2030's goal of enhancing access to University education through expansion of facilities and increasing University presence in various parts of the country. This development was also in response to a growing demand for Kenyatta University's revolutionary programmes by the clientele working within Nakuru county and its environs but who could not access these programmes at the main campus.

The objectives of Kenyatta university Nakuru campus are to:
  • Promote education and training in various fields through launching of new and unique programmes and use of alternative delivery methods.
  • Enhance the level of participation in research, dissemination and preservation of knowledge for both academic and societal development.
  • Cultivate an environment that nurtures excellence and high standards of professionalism in teaching, learning, research and community service.
  • Create equal opportunities for those qualified to pursue university education
  • Promote the development of the students' welfare systems for the attainment of academic excellence and all-round education.
  • Promote human resource development to enhance service delivery.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

In order to achieve our mission of providing quality education and training, we will increasingly rely on ICT and E-learning. The campus has a computer laboratory where students can easily access internet.

Science Laboratories and Library

The campus has fully equipment library and is net-worked with Main campus (KU) Library where students can access books and articles on-line. We have modern offices for teaching, administration staff, and lecture halls.

Friendly and dedicated staff

Nakuru-Campus has dedicated academic members of staff and non-teaching staff.

Academic programmes. The staff are either permanent or on contract. The teaching staffs provide all-round support to the students including guidance in choice of subjects, teaching, and mentoring the students. The campus is also supported by a team of dedicated administrative staff, whereas the overall management of the campus is provided by the Director assisted by Deputy Director, the Administrator assistant and a Management Committee

Campus Life

The campus provides students with the opportunity to experience the best student life that is truly incomparable. Life at the campus is vibrant. On Friday and Saturdays, you’re bound to find activities to suit your taste such as in-door and out-door recreational facilities, religious activities, music and dance, leisure walk. There are also many clubs and students activities choose from. Students at the campus participate from time-to-time in out of campus activities. These include participation in the famous cultural week held annually at KU main campus, games and sports, educational tours, and community outreach services and career week.

The campus offers full time regular programmes, evening and weekends classes, institutional based programmes (offered during school holidays) and Open-Distance and e-learning

Mode of Application

  1. Application forms can be obtained from Kenyatta University Nakuru Campus (situated at Nakuru in the CBD KU plaza, along the busy Eldoret – Nairobi highway), Kenyatta University Main Campus, Admissions Block, Office No. 12 on payment of a non-refundable fee of kshs.2,000/= for East Africans and Kshs.4,000/= for non-East Africans. The money may be deposited into any one of the following bank accounts:

NB: There are three admissions each year at the Nakuru Campus (January, May and September).
