Pwani University College

Pwani University College was established as a constituent college of Kenyatta University on 23rd August 2007. As a result of the tireless efforts of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Olive Mugenda the University Constituent College was the first to start its programs immediately it was established. The college is situated in Kilifi a scenic resort town about 60 Kms North of Mombasa City and adjacent to the Indian Ocean. It occupies about 500 acres of land with excellent teaching and learning infrastructure.It is ideally located to become a premier institution of higher learning at the coast. Currently, the University College has 950 students taking courses in Agriculture, Science, Arts, Education, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Humanities, Business Studies, Hospitality and Tourism Management.

To date, the university has graduated two cohorts of 200 Certificate in Agriculture students, admitted by the former Kilifi Institute of Agriculture. The first cohort of JAB degree students were admitted in October 2007. In addition, 211 students were offered admission through JAB in the academic 2008/2009. These students started their various programs in September 2009.
Currently, the institution is in the process of setting both Administrative and Academic structures. The University College is well positioned to grow both in infra structure, staffing profiles and student population. It is envisaged that the student population will exceed 2,400 by 2010/2011 academic year.
