The Parliamentary Committee members on Health led by Hon. Sabina Chege on Friday 6th July 2018 inspected the Kenyatta University Hospital facility. They were joined by representatives from the World Bank. Among other parliamentary members were Hon. Esther Passaris and Hon. Dr. Swarup Ranjun Mishra. Kenyatta University Hospital (KUH) is expected to be the finest healthcare facility in the region offering specialized healthcare services. The hospital has in place a cutting edge and world class medical technology, with the most modern diagnostic and treatment machines. The world class facility will save Kenyans billions of shillings spend overseas while seeking specialized treatment. It is expected to bridge the inability of poor patients to afford healthcare in expensive private hospitals. KUH will have highly trained and experienced doctors, who conduct research, diagnose and treat many common illnesses and conditions from Kenya and other parts of the world. These doctors will be supported by a highly trained team of nurses and clinical officers. The 600 bed capacity with a 24 bed intensive care unit will have an oncology unit offering radiotherapy, chemotherapy, advanced surgery, among other specialized treatments. The hospital is expected to be open to the public later in the year.
