After her high school at Lubiri Secondary school, Navuga Flavia flooded Nairobi  top boutiques to get her self many designer hot tight pants and short dresses, little did she know that  Catholic University where she was admitted had a strict dress code for its female students. Like her, so many students have an illusion that university life come with lots of freedom and no rules to follow which ceases to be the case in reality

” I grew my hair in my form six vacation with thought that since I was joining Campus, i had all the freedom to do what i wanted. I thought it was time to up me swagg. Only to be disappointed when I reached the university of choice, at IUEA, they don’t allow us males to grow hair ” – Joel, now a second year student lamented in of the interviews with local media

It is such a norm at the International University Of East Africa, male students are prohibited from growing hair, wearing ornaments and plant hair, you may loose out on your place at this University if you dare do any of the fore mentioned

Some universities limit or control the dress code of there students, point in case is the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), here female students ought to wear a hijab to cover all the body parts except the hands, face and feet.

” Our students must at all times where a hijab while on campus (whether Muslim or not) and they should not be body tight hijabs to expose there body shape. They must cover up not just wrap there bodies ” – One of the laws read in IUIU booklets

At the prestigious Makerere University, students will not be allowed to hang around in halls of residence where they don’t live after midnight. They are also prohibited from halls of opposite sex students beyond 08:30 pm

Various Universities like Makerere, Uganda Christian University (UCU) among others, have a strict law on pregnancy and opposite sex relationships, usage of drugs among there students, high heeled shoes among female students examination rules,

Make it an effort to attend your varsities orientation for more specific rules that govern your new school and this will help you not to land into trouble with the concerned authorities, Rules and regulations are such relevant.
