Jubilee MP, Ngunjiri Wambugu files petition against Chief Justice Maraga.

The Chief Justice verdict with other Supreme Court judges was never welcomed by the third responded with the post-verdict effects coming to the limelight.

And today, a Jubilee Member of Parliament, Ngunjiri Wambugu, has filed a petition against the Chief Justice David Maraga claiming that his decision was politically influenced.

Presidential Ruling

In his ruling, the CJ said that the electoral process was affected by a point of compromising the whole process and results of the election, hence nullified the presidential elections in the favor of the first respondent.

The announcement led to mixed reactions in Kenya with Jubilee supporters adamant that their victory was denied. The President and his deputy, who held several rallies after the announcement said that “Maraga and other four judges” conspired to take away from them their well-earned victory.

National Super Alliance came back with fresh demands after the victory calling for the prosecution of the IEBC officers, Returning Officers, and Presiding officers who are believed to have acted ultra-vires to a point of compromising the electoral process.

Among other demands, NASA called for fresh tenders to hire services of another firm which would print the ballot papers adding that they would boycott the October 17th elections if their demands are not obeyed.
