TEAM BUILDING EVENT AND ADVENTURE IN KARURA FOREST
Karura Forest is an urban forest in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. The forest was gazetted in 1932 and is managed by the Kenya Forest Service[ in conjunction with Friends of Karura Forest Community Association. Karura Forest is 1,041 ha (2,570 acre) consisting of three parts separated by Limuru and Kiambu roads. The large middle portion is ca. 710 ha (1,750 acres); the Sigria salient to the west is ca. 250 ha (620 acres). The portion to the east of Kiambu road has been allocated to special national priorities Kenyatta University Environmental Club Members organized a team building event in Karura forest to have some time to bond and have fun. The trip started at the university bus park at 8.00 a.m and after one hour they arrived at the forest. The day was full of interesting activities which included a forest walk, enjoying the cool climate and fresh air the forest provided, watching various species of trees and enjoying the scenic beauty the forest provided.The forest has a variety of birds and butterflies which the students did not miss the chance to see and hear the beautiful songs the birds provided in a sequence. As they listened to the birds sing, took pictures and recorded them in their phones they also had the opportunity to see a variety of butterflies flying all over the trees. Karura forest is also traversed by a River with clean and cold water, which flows slowly downstream. The students had an opportunity to see the scenic waterfall the river provided where they took selfies for future reference o show other members who did not make it to the forest.The day was still young for them and they had the opportunity to enjoy fun moments at the Mau caves inside the forest where they also took photos. They also engaged in Ice breaking activity which is a game or event to welcome and warm up conversation among participants in, team building session, here the participants didn’t know each other, and the ice breaker helped them introduce themselves to the other participants. They also engaged in thrilling games activities like running, singing and dance, and the most entertaining tag of war where they flexed their muscles through two groups pulling the rope towards their direction to see which team is stronger than the other. Cycling competition was in their game activities for the day where participants competed to see who is faster. it was a day full of fun and enjoyment and could not have ended any better without a bite which they took before heading back to the University.

Karura forest has cool climate and fresh air where one can enjoy, watching various species of trees the scenic beauty the forest can provide and the students were among the lucky who had this golden opportunity to enjoy it.
