OL DONYO SABUK NATIONAL PARK TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITY 2017
This national park is an ultimate Panoramic Experience” which is dominated by a small mountain covered in montane forest, the Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park is home to 45 species of birds including the white-browed sparrow weaver, and grey- headed sparrow weaver, African pied wagtail, mourning dove, augur buzzard, African hawk eagle and purple-breasted sunbird. Buffalo are the dominant animals in the ecosystem and other wildlife include bushbucks, leopards, olive baboons, aardvarks, porcupines, mongoose, pythons and monitor lizard. The mountain’s summit also offers visitors scenic views of Mount Kenya.
KUNEC members organized this team building activity to enjoy the panoramic experience of watching the scenic beauty of the mountain and the surrounding Machakos hills which could be seen from afar, enjoying cool mountain breeze seeing the birds and animals and mountain climbing. This was a three day event. The journey started at the university, where the students converged and boarded a Bus and had a stopover in Thika town where they had some refreshments before proceeding to Ol Donyo Sabuk in Kilimambogo Machakos County. On arrival, the students alighted from the bus and embarked on the mountain climbing to the camp site. Camp tents and sleeping bags were provided for hire by the camp owners. The student had several activities lined up for the three days, including enjoying the Night fire together, playing in the moonlight, and having group discussions where tasks were assigned by their team leaders who expected a feedback after the activity.
