Department of Medical Laboratory Science PDF
The department of Medical laboratory Science was established in December 2007 and began its operations in January 02, 2008.

The department is located on Arts complex, Room No 2005 and 2006. Currently, the department offers two programmes: B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Science) and M.Sc. (Infectious Diseases). The B.Sc. Programme leads to a professional qualification allowing the graduates to practice Medical Laboratory Science in all the clinical laboratories in Kenya. These graduates are also eligible to work in Medical and Biomedical research laboratories, reference and Biotechnology laboratories.
The B.Sc. (MLS) programme was revised in June 2008, to meet the frontiers and current market demands in Medical Laboratory Science.  It is a four year programme with a Trimester of clinical rotations each year. The clinical phase takes 8 week for the first 3 academic years and 16 weeks in the last academic year. The B.Sc (MLS) is extremely popular and competitive programme with a very high number of applicants every year.

The M.Sc Programme provides comprehensive and focused exposure to Infectious Diseases and has strengths in the following areas: Immunology, Medical Virology, Medical Bacteriology, Medical Parasitology, and Medical Mycology. The goal of this programme is to provide an opportunity for students to specialize in any of the five disciplines mentioned above. The M.Sc. (Infectious Diseases) is a 2 year training programme, course work in the first year and thesis research in the second year of study.
