DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION

Degree Requirements

  1. The normal requirements for university admission shall apply.
  2. Candidates with a diploma in education with Physical Education as a teaching subject from a recognised and accredited institution may be considered.Number of Degrees
  3. The department offers  Bachelor of Arts (Physical Education), MA (Physical Education) and PhD (Physical Education)

Course Load

  • Students will take 7 units every semester. Those who wish to take 8 units will be required to have a B average in their previous semester standing
  • Waiver is  given to students who hold a Diploma from recognized college. The waivers will however be limited to those course where the student attained atleast a B

2.    Hockey Netball & Soccer ( SPE 201)
3.    Swimming II & Athletics II (SPE 300)
4.    Basketball, Handball & Volleyball (SPE 301
5.    Badminton Tennis & Squash (SPE 400)
6.    Sports Administration & Management (SSS 400)
7.    Adapted Physical Education and Sports (SPE 204)

Minor
Year I:  P.E – 2unitsHPE 100 & HPE 103, Other teaching subject 6 units, UCU 5 units and Education Units 3 Total Number of Units = 16 units. Year II: P.E 2 units HPE 201 & HPE 203, Other teaching subject 6 units Education 5 units Total Number of Units= 13 units. Year III: P.E 2 units HPE 300 & HPE 301, Other Teaching subject 6 units Education3 units plus Teaching practice (1unit) Total Number of Units=12. Year IV: PE 2 units HPE  401 & HPE 403, Other Teaching subject 6 units, Education 4 units Total Number of Units= 12 units. Total Number of Units = 53 Units.
