The Institute for Teacher Professional Development has an establishment of seven senior lecturers distributed as follows:

Currently, there are two full time academic staff, i.e.; the Director, Deputy Director and visiting scholar seconded to the Institute through the Carnegic African Diaspora Fellowship Programme of the International Institute of Education. In addition, the Institute engages 17 part-time lecturers from different schools and departments within Kenyatta University.

The current student population is over 1000 cutting across 1st years to 4th years. The Institute graduated 50 students in Diploma Teacher Education in December 2014. All those graduates have been absorbed either in the private primary education sector, while a few have progressed into B.Ed Primary Teacher Education.
