Through our multidisciplinary approach to healthcare, D.U.H.S provides access to a wide variety of medical needs for a full range of clinical services, as well as primary care. This unique team approach brings together the work of physicians, nurses and other care providers across multiple specialties to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive, personalized care at any of our service delivery point.
Primary Care
Patients who require general medical services including routine physicals, evaluation of non-emergency medical complaints, and follow up of chronic medical conditions may visit the health facility. HIV/AIDS information is given to individuals counseling are provided by Health Educators and peer health educators. Confidential HIV Testing is also done.
Triage
Triage is available for patients who do not have an appointment and have an urgent medical condition including, but not limited to, an asthma attack, allergic reaction, dehydration, high fever, and urinary tract infection. Patients will be assessed and depending on the severity of the problem, MAY be seen on the same day by a clinician. Urgent cases always take priority. Students who are seriously ill or injured may be sent to the emergency department of a local hospital.
Nutrition Services
The mission of the University Health Center Nutrition Service Department is to equip and support members of the campus community with the knowledge and skills needed to make and implement healthy nutrition choices.
Mental Health Services
The Mental Health Service provides the following with the assistance of Psychiatrist: Short Term Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, Medication Evaluations and Medication Management, Mental Health Emergencies, Suicide Prevention Program.
Specialized services
Include but not limited to, Gynecological, ENT consultations, Diabetic and Hypertensive clinics, Pediatrics, Dental, Psychiatry Comprehensive care clinics, mother and child welfare, in patient services.
Occupational Health Services
The Occupational Health Clinic develops and implements medical surveillance programs for those employees working with hazardous agents and offers lectures on health and safety topics. This office is also responsible for pre-employment physicals for some campus departments
Laboratory
Our laboratory processes a wide variety of test requests, from outside medical providers. Some tests are performed in the laboratory and some are sent out to designated reference laboratories.
Allergy, Immunization and Travel Clinic Services
The University Health Center offers a variety of immunization and allergy services to the community.
Physical Therapy
You may be referred to physical therapy by your Health Center physician as a part of your rehabilitation program. The physical therapy department is located on the Ground Floor of the University Health Center.
