KENYATTA UNIVERSITY TELEVISION AND RADIO SERVICES (KUTV & RS)

  • MARKETING EXECUTIVE

            PURPOSE:

  • To sell TV and Radio advertising space to brands, agencies and other clients
  • The incumbent will bring in, existing relationships  with advertisers and agencies, while cultivating new relationships, managing  sales, forecasting revenue and helping the sales and marketing team gain market insights

      QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing or related field from a recognized university
  • Professional qualification in Marketing or related field
  • At least two (2) years advertisement sales experience in a similar role, advertising, media selling or TV service
  • Bachelor Degree in Media or Journalism or Mass Communication with two (2) years marketing experience in a reputable media firm will also be considered

           
            OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

      • A good understanding of media: Radio and TV industry
      • Ability to work independently and under pressure
      • Excellent client service, communication and interpersonal skills
      • Hands on experience in market sales and penetration
      • Proven leadership capability
      • Good decision making and communication skills
      • Established conceptual, market modeling and analytical skills
      • SOUND ENGINEER

PURPOSE:
The Sound Engineer will perform all duties related to sound engineering for         performances, shows, presentations and productions in the Studio/Open Broadcast (OB) including operating, managing, monitoring and maintaining of all sound equipment in the studio/Open Broadcast (OB).

            QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor Degree in any of the following fields from a recognized university: 
    • Film and TV production
    • Performing arts
    • Audio and recording technology
    • Sound engineering
    • Music technology
    • At least two (2) years experience in audio electronics specifically for sound playback and live mixing including knowledge of digital and analogue audio equipment including sound consoles, speakers, microphones and wireless systems
    • OR Diploma in Technology for Creative Presentations and Sound Technology and  three (3) years equivalent experience in audio electronics
    • Certification in basic computer skills for MAC/PC    
    • Knowledge of MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) production equipment and digital audio workstations, microphone and signal techniques
    • Basic knowledge and skills in electrical wiring and rigging
    • Experience in music and theatrical sound and audio engineering will be an added advantage
 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available for on the job training and available to work long and unpredictable hours
  • Must have good sense of hearing, physical fitness and agility (including ability to carry heavy loads and to work at heights of up to 5 meters) is essential
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with the technical production team and other departments
  • Ability to work within a team structure as well as independently
  • Punctuality and time management skill to ensure efficiency for set ups, show calls, meetings and work calls

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sound design and management like recording, mixing and synchronizing different sounds
  • Maintenance of quality sound throughout performances/presentations including amplification, mixing, recording, synching and reproducing sounds and effects for productions
  • Maintaining and looking over sound equipment including repairing of equipment and troubleshooting
  • Work within a team environment that includes Lighting Technician, Stage Manager as well as Stage and Production Staff in planning and carrying out structure of sound for every performance

            QUALIFICATIONS:

DUTIES:

      • Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of the entire Hotel
      • Ensure that rooms are made as per Hotel standard
      • Prepare Annual Housekeeping Budget
      • Maintain par stock of guest supplies, cleaning supplies and linen
      • Organize inventories with Accounts and General Store for linen and fixed assets
      • Pay particular attention while organizing pest eradication activities in the whole Hotel
      • Develop and implement Housekeeping systems and procedures as per the Hotel policy
      • Prepare reports for management information as and when required
      • A ssist Purchase Department in selecting Suppliers for items related to Housekeeping and assuring their quality
      • Organize on- the job training and evaluate its  effectiveness to the Housekeeping staff
      • Supervise all Housekeeping staff on a daily basis and appraise them
      • Any other duty assigned by the General Manager


      • EXECUTIVE CHEF (RE- ADVERTISEMENT)

            QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Bachelors Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in  food production or  related field from a recognized institution and five (5) years experience in a 4 or 5 star hotel in a similar position  OR Diploma in food production or related field from a recognized institution and seven (7) years experience in a 4 or 5 star hotel in a similar position
      • Above thirty five (35) years of age
      • Knowledge of international cuisine
      • Computer literate
      • Knowledge of HACCP

DUTIES:

      • Plan Menus and develop standard recipes and techniques of food preparation and presentation
      • Perform kitchen administrative duties
      • Train, co-ordinate and manage the kitchen personnel
      • Ensure high standard of sanitation, cleanliness and safety are maintained in all kitchen sections
      • Establish and monitor kitchen control to minimize food and supply wastage and spillage
      • Cook, directly supervise the cooking procedure and approve all prepared food items leaving the kitchen

      • GTT III Certificate in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or relevant and equivalent Certificate from a recognized institution
      • At least five (5) years continuous relevant work experience
      • An up-to-date valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
      • A clean Driving License will be an added advantage


 

The terms for the above positions include a generous medical scheme, house allowance and commuting allowance. Successful candidates will be offered two (2) year renewable performance - based contract and gratuity will be paid at the end of the contract.
