Kenyatta University continues to open its doors and minds to the next generation of scholars.
In a spirit of mentorship and academic empowerment, Kenyatta University recently hosted students and teachers from Upper Hill Mixed Day Secondary School, Nakuru, for a motivational visit to the main campus. The group was led by the school’s Principal, Ms. Theresia Njeri, and received by the university's top leadership.
The highlight of the visit was an engaging and inspiring session with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Paul Wainaina, who warmly welcomed the students and encouraged them to dream big and pursue excellence in their academic journey. Prof. Wainaina emphasized the university’s commitment to nurturing young minds, reminding the visitors that institutions of higher learning are not only spaces of knowledge but also of transformation.
Also present during the session were members of the University Management Board and staff, who took time to share insights into university life, available programmes, and the wide-ranging opportunities KU offers to both local and international students. The students had a chance to ask questions and interact directly with university leaders — a rare and valuable experience that left a lasting impression.
Among the officials present was Dr. Mildred Nawiri, Acting Registrar, Corporate Affairs (pictured front row, first left), who lauded the school’s initiative in organizing such visits, noting the role of early exposure in shaping students’ educational aspirations and goals.
The motivational visit not only strengthened the bond between secondary schools and institutions of higher learning but also aligned with Kenyatta University’s broader mission to support education at all levels and inspire young learners across Kenya.
As the visit concluded, both the students and teachers expressed deep appreciation for the warm welcome, insights shared, and the memorable experience of interacting with one of the country’s premier universities.
