On June 19th, 2024, Kenyatta University proudly installed Amb. (Dr.) Francis Kirimi Muthaura as its 6th Chancellor during the 55th graduation ceremony. Taking over from Dr. Benson Wairegi, the new Chancellor is set to serve a five-year term, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a vision to elevate the University to greater heights.
Amb. (Dr.) Francis Muthaura has significantly contributed to the education sector and the nation at large. He played a pivotal role in expanding secondary school education enrolment through the development of the Day Secondary School Policy. He also facilitated the expansion of public universities from six to twenty-two, ensuring equitable distribution across all regions of Kenya. His efforts in formulating the TVET Policy led to the creation of technical institutions in all constituencies, empowering the youth with employment opportunities.
Recognizing the financial challenges facing Kenyan universities, Amb. His visionary leadership is anticipated to drive significant growth and development at Kenyatta University.
In his address at the graduation ceremony, Amb. (Dr.) Muthaura acknowledged the global challenges faced by universities and emphasized the importance of continually updating knowledge and skills to develop innovative solutions.
