Specific mandates

  1. Source and provide information on funding sources and requirements
  2. Organize and conduct grant proposal writing workshops
  3. Coordinate the development of large, multidisciplinary university research proposals
  4. Coordinate internal review of grant applications in response to funding announcements
  5. Organize trainings to update staff knowledge and skills in research methods
  6. Work in partnership with graduate school to facilitate capacity building of academic staff to enhance and supervision of post graduate students research projects
  7. Develop and strengthen research partnerships nationally and internationally
  8. Strengthen the capacity of the researchers to engage in demand driven research that respond to and supports the need of the public and the private sector in their daily work
  9. Sensitize the university community, both staff and students, on the importance of reaching out to communities with need based and research driven evidence to positively impact their lives
  10. Build the capacity of researchers in collaboration with the public and private sector to generate essential information and to encourage active sharing
  11. Support researchers in creating targeted messaging (e.g. policy and press releases) emphasizing the role of research evidence in contributing to better programmes and improved interventions Sensitize the university community, both staff and students, on the importance of reaching out to communities with need based and research driven evidence to positively impact their lives;
  12. Support researchers in disseminating research output through targeted messaging for Television, Radio and Print Media in collaboration with Public Relation Office to enhance policy formulation and promote evidenced based decision making.
  13. Work closely with Directorates, Schools and Departments to enhance research and dissemination activities in KU
  14. Coordinate the mainstreaming of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in the University.
