Dr. Joshua M. Muia serves as an Instructor in the Department of Medicine at Washington University. Dr. Muia graduated with a B. Sc. (Chemistry) degree from the University of Nairobi in 2004, and went on to attain his Ph.D in Bioinorganic Chemistry from |Western Michigan University. His doctoral thesis investigated the copper-transporting ATPase (ATP7B) that is deficient in Wilson disease, during this period he developed skills in the use of DNA recombinant technology to express and purify recombinant proteins on a large scale, and biophysical characterization of proteins using circular dichroism, light scattering and gel chromatography techniques. He was invited to present his findings at several scientific meetings including the Bioinorganic Chemistry Gordon Research Conference (2007) and the Annual Experimental Biology Conference (2010). Dr. Fredrick Muyia Nafukho serves as Professor and Department Head in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University. Dr. Nafukho earned his Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Louisiana State University, M.Ed in Economics of Education and B.Ed in Business Studies and Economics from Kenyatta University, Kenya. He attended Harvard’s Management Development Program (MDP) offered by Harvard Institutes for Higher Education. Prof. Phillip W. Rudd from Pittsburg State University, Kansas, USA is visiting as a Fulbright scholar at the Institute of African Studies where he share and explore his research interest covering Second Language Acquisition; Pragmatics; English linguistics; Ecolinguistics; Contact Linguistics; and African Linguistics. Prof. Rudd earned his PhD from Ball State University, Indiana and his dissertation focused on determining what kind of language Sheng (Nairobi’s urban vernacular) is and its linguistic features. PKaren Torjesen, Ph.D. is the Margo L. Goldsmith Professor of Women’s Studies in Religion at Claremont Graduate University where she has helped establish graduate programs in Women’s Studies in Religion and Applied Women’s Studies. For ten years she served as Dean of the School of Religion, partnering with religious communities to create programs in comparative religion. She has published extensively on women, gender and sexuality within Christianity. Her research interests include constructions of gender and sexuality in early Christianity, authority and institutionalization in the early churches, hermeneutics and rhetoric in late antiquity, and comparative study of Greek and Latin patristic traditions.
