Dr. Fredrick Muyia Nafukho

Dr. Fredrick Muyia Nafukho serves as Professor and Department Head in the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development, College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University.   Dr. Nafukho earned his Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Louisiana State University, M.Ed in Economics of Education and B.Ed in Business Studies and Economics from Kenyatta University, Kenya.He attended Harvard’s Management Development Program (MDP) offered by Harvard Institutes for Higher Education. He joined the Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University as an Associate Professor in August 2007.

Dr. Nafukho has received numerous awards in recognition of his scholarship including: the Fulbright Scholarship in 1996, Distinguished International Scholar Award, Louisiana State University in 1997, Arkansas Business Teacher Educator of the Year Award in 2004, Cutting Edge Award for the Outstanding Papers, Academy of Human Resource Development (with his student Dr. Carroll C. Graham) in 2005, Outstanding New Faculty Award, CEHD at Texas A&M University in 2008 and the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship in 2016.

Dr. Nafukho’ s research foci is on educational policy analysis within international and comparative education, investment in human capital development, emotional intelligence and leadership development, organizational development and change, evaluation in organizations, transfer of learning, organizational learning and e-learning. He is author/editor of Handbook of Research on Innovative Technology Integration in Higher Education (2015, IGI Global), Informal Public Transport in Practice: Matatu Entrepreneurship (Ashgate, 2016), Governance and Transformation of Universities in Africa (2014, IAP), Foundations of Adult Education in Africa (2005, Pearson Education &UNESCO), Management of Adult Education Organizations in Africa (2011, Pearson Education & UNESCO).  

In addition, he has authored/edited over 100 books, book chapters, and refereed journal articles. He has served as a consultant with the UNDP, WHO and UNESCO and as a lead consultant for 15 Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries on a Four Sector Open and Distance Learning (ODEL) Research Project. Dr. Nafukho has received numerous grant funding as PI or Co-PI over $7.6 million to support his research and graduate students.

Dr. Fredrick Nafukho’s research while at KU will be on ‘Research Capability Enhancement in a New Division for Research; Design and Delivery of Online Programs’.
