Admission Requirements
i. The common regulations for admissions into master degree in Kenyatta University shall apply.
ii. The general regulations for all master degree in the School of Agriculture and Enterprise Development shall apply.
iii. Holders of a B.Sc. degree with at least an upper second class honours in Agriculture, Agricultural Resource Management, Dryland Agriculture, Animal Production and Health Management, Agricultural Engineering, Range Management, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Agricultural Education, Agricultural Economics or its equivalent from Kenyatta University or other institutions recognized by Kenyatta University Senate.
iv. Those with Second Class (Lower Division) may be considered on condition that they have Grade “C” and above in units relevant to their areas of specialization.
Examination Regulations
The Kenyatta University examination regulations governing post-graduate exams shall apply. Unit registered for in each semester shall be examined at the end of each semester Coursework assessment shall consist of final written examination and Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) which shall include practicals, written tests, seminars, oral presentation and term papers The final written examination shall constitute 60% of the total marks for each unit while CATs shall constitute 40% of the total marks
The pass mark for each unit shall be 50% the thesis will be examined according to the university regulations, that is written thesis and oral presentation (defense)
Course Structure, Study Duration
The M.Sc. degree in Dryland agriculture shall consist of coursework, examination and thesis. The M.Sc. programme will take a minimum of two (2) years. In year one, a candidate shall be required to take a total of 10 units of which 8 shall be compulsory taken from core units and 2 electives. In first semester, a candidate will take 5 core units and in second semester 3 core units and 2 electives. In year two, a candidate shall concentrate on research work and submit a thesis.

The degree to be awarded is designated: Master of Science in Dryland Agriculture (M.Sc. Dryland Agriculture)
