10.  Doctor of Philosophy (Communication and Media Studies)

The following shall be eligible for registration for the M.A. in the Department:

(a) A holder of Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and / or Film Technology, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism / Mass communication or their equivalent with at least an upper second class honours of Kenyatta University or any other recognized University. Holders of Lower Second class degrees may also be admitted on condition that they have at least three years’ work experience.
(b) A holder of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree with specialization in Literature or Kiswahili or English with at least Upper second class honours of Kenyatta University or any other recognized University who also hold a certificate or Diploma in Theatre Arts and / or Film Studies or Communication and Media Studies or have proven interest in Communication and Media Studies, Theatre Arts or film . Holders of Lower Second class degrees who also hold a certificate or diploma in Communication and Media Studies, Theatre Arts and / or Film Technology with at least a pass or have proven interest in Communication and Media studies, Theatre Arts and Film may also be admitted on condition that they have at least three years’ work experience.

Eligibility for registration for the Doctor of Philosophy

The following shall be eligible for registration for the Doctor of Philosophy:

A holder of Master of Arts in Communication, Journalism, Theatre Arts, Animation and / or Film studies / Technology, or their equivalent from Kenyatta University or any other recognized University with a Thesis or at least a score of 60% in the project.
