Personal Statement
Dr. Gichuhi is a lecturer, a trainer, consultant and researcher in information related disciplines with particular emphasis on Knowledge management (KM) and Records Management (RM). Dr. Gichuhi holds a Masters degree in Med (Library Studies) and a PhD in Library and Information Science with a focus on Knowledge Management. Dr. Gichuhi has a long teaching experience of thirty-five (35) years in secondary schools, middle level colleges and now university level. Dr. Gichuhi has over the years held leadership responsibilities that has given her immense leadership experience. In particular, her involvement in leading teams in conducting consultancy work that sometimes involved restructuring systems, has sharpened her leadership and supervisorial competences and skills. Dr. Gichuhi has over the years consulted and trained corporates including religious bodies on Records Management and other related information science programs. Dr. Gichuhi has helped and guided organizations develop RM policies, procedures and integration of RM into their business Systems. Dr. Gichuhi is currently working to assist organizations integrate KM in their day-to-day operations and in their strategic plans to boost productivity. As a lecturer Dr. Gichuhi teaches records management and knowledge management courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her areas of research are in Records Management, Knowledge Management, Library and information science as well as Inclusive Education. She is currently a Disability Champion at Kenyatta University. Dr. Gichuhi is a good team builder, team player and an effective organizer and communicator who works tirelessly to ensure that projects are completed on time. At the community level, she is involved in church leadership in particular in the women and Christian Education ministries where she organizes seminars and conferences. To alleviate economic and social hardships among women and other vulnerable members in the community, she is the chairperson of an Association called Women on Mission (WOMI) that aims at empowering women, girls and other vulnerable members in all spheres of their lives.
