Professor Washington Yotto Ochieng from Imperial College London in the UK paid a courtesy call to the GIS Lab on the sidelines of the ongoing Kenyatta University Biennial Research Conference, KUBRIC. Prof. Washington Yotto Ochieng is a keynote speaker in the three-day event taking place at the Business and Student Service Center in the main campus. Among present in the Lab during the courtesy call were staff members and students from the Department of Environmental Planning and Management and the Department of Environmental Sciences.

Prof. Washington Yotto Ochieng gave a remarkable talk to the students, encouraging them to showcase their best potential through research and innovation. The narration of his academic journey and intellectual trajectory served to motivate students to apply knowledge and skills in developing sustainable solutions to major problems in the country.
Prof. Washington Yotto Ochieng is an accomplished researcher with interest in the design of positioning and navigation systems for land, sea and air applications. He has made significant contributions to major international projects including the design of the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) and GALILEO. He is the Head of the Centre for Transport Studies and Chair of Positioning and Navigation Systems in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. KUBRIC is organized by the Division of Research, Innovation and Outreach in Kenyatta University. On Friday, 25th October 2019, he will be making a keynote address in the opening plenary of KUBRIC.
