Entry Requirements
The common regulations for admission into the Masters Degrees in the University shall apply.
The common regulations for admission into the Masters degrees in the School of Environmental Studies and Human Sciences shall apply. The following shall be eligible for admission the Mas-ter of Science (Environmental Education) programme:
- Bachelor's Degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent from a recognized university in Environmental Education, Education, Environmental Studies, Forestry, Agriculture, Biophysical Sciences and Social Sciences.
- Those with Second Class (Lower Division) may be considered on condition that they have Grade "C" and above in units relevant to their areas of specialization.
Duration and Degree Pattern
The Master of Science (Environmental Education) degree programme is by course work, examinations and thesis. The programme will take a minimum of 18 months. To graduate in Master of Science (Environmental Education) the student is expected to pass at least ten units (six of which
will be core) in addition to a thesis. In the first year of study, the student is expected to take 10 units. In the second year, the student will be expected to carry out a field research and submit a thesis for examination.
Examination
The general university examination regulations shall apply. Students enrolled for the Master of Science (Environmental Education) degree programme will be expected to take written exami- nations on all the taught units. The written examinations will constitute 70% of the total marks while the Course work assessment tests (CATS) will constitute 30%. Pass mark shall be 50%. Every student must do research and submit a thesis for examination.
Thesis Option: 10 taught units plus Thesis (8 units) Total =18
Project Option: 14 taught units plus Research Report (4 units) Total=18
