Entry Requirements
In addition to meeting the University entrance requirements, candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Environmental Science Programme are required to have obtained
- minimum of C+ in any three of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics or Physics or Physical Sciences.
- Grade C in KCSE or its equivalent and Diploma with a minimum of credit in a subject related to Environmental Studies from a recognized Institution.
- Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma from recognized/accredited institutions.
Examinations
The Common University Regulations on Examinations shall apply. Students will be assessed
through Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) and a written examination in each course unit. Each course unit will be marked out of 100%. Continuous Assessment Tests will contribute 30%, and the final written examination 70%, except for Field Internship Course which will be assessed as described under the course description. The pass mark for each course unit shall be 40%. Graduates of this programme shall be awarded the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science
(B.Env.Sc.)
Mode of Study
In addition to the University Common units, students in the first year of study (100 series) must take
all the core units from the Programme and the remaining units from three other Environmental Programmes in the School of Environmental Studies. In the second year of study (200 series), students shall be required to take all units from the Programme and the remaining units from two Environmental Programmes in the School of Environmental Studies. In the third and fourth years of study (300 and 400 series), students must take 13 units from the Programme; the units shall be
all the core units and the rest from the available electives taken from the areas of specialisation.
Certification
The degree to be awarded is designated: Bachelor of Environmental Science.
