In the first year, students take units from the University Common Courses, and some common units. In the second year of study, students are expected to take two units from other programmes in the School of Environmental Studies and Human Sciences, and the rest from the programme for which they are registered. In the third and fourth years of study students have the option to pursue specialisations within the programmes.

Admission Requirements: (Environmental studies)
In addition to meeting the university entry requirements, and being an interdisciplinary course, candidates are required to have obtained at least (C+) in KSCE or its equivalent with at least C+ in any three of the following cluster subjects: (English or Mathematics); (Geography, History and Government or Religious Education); (Agriculture, Home Science, Computer Studies); (Economics or Commerce); (Biology, Chemistry or Physics). Candidates with KCSE of C plain must also have a Diploma with at least credit pass from a recognised institution.

Entry Requirements:

    • Applicants must have a mean grade of (C+) in KCSE or its equivalent with at least (C+) in any three of the following subjects: Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, History and Government, Home Science and Agriculture.
    • Candidates with C Plain must have a Diploma of at least Credit Pass in a field of study related to the Environment and Community Development. They must also have attained at least (C+) in two of the above subjects.
    • A-level candidates must have at least 2 Principles in relevant subjects above.
    • Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma from recognized/accredited institutions.

    • BACHELOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES (PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT)

      Entry Requirements:

      In addition to satisfying the University entrance requirements, candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Planning and Management) programme are required to have obtained a good pass (B-) in K.C.S.E. or its equivalent with at least three of their subjects in Geography, Mathematics, Technical Drawing,Economics, Fine Art, Agriculture, Biology, English, Business Studies and Computer Science.

    • BACHELOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE (B. ENV. SCIENCE)

 Entry Requirements 

In addition to meeting the University entrance requirements, candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Environmental Science Programme are required to have obtained 

  • minimum of C+ in any three of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Mathematics or Physics or Physical Sciences.
  • Grade C in KCSE or its equivalent and Diploma with a minimum of credit in a subject related to Environmental Studies from a recognized Institution.
  • Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma from recognized/accredited institutions.

 BACHELOR OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES (RESOURCE CONSERVATION)

Entry Requirements 

In addition to satisfying the university entry requirements, for admission into the Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Resource Conservation) degree program, candidates must have attained at least C+ in KCSE or its equivalent in any three of the following:

Mathematics, geography, biology or biological sciences, physics or physical sciences or chemistry, agriculture.

To qualify for the award of the degree, a student will be required to take all the core units offered.To gain admission into the program diploma holders: Must have passed KCSE or its equivalent with a minimum of C mean grade or Division 3. Must have successfully completed an ordinary diploma course in environmental related disciplines from recognized colleges and attained a minimum credit grade. 

Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma from recognized/accredited institutions.


BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION)

 Entry Requirements 

 Candidates must fulfil the university and School of Environmental Studies entry requirements. In addition the candidate must have grade C+ or equivalent in any three of the following sub- jects: Mathematics, English, Biology, Geography, History and any religious subject. 

To gain admission into the programme, diploma holders: 

  • Must have passed KCSE or its equivalent with a minimum of C mean grade or Division 3
  • Must have successfully completed an ordinary diploma course and attained a minimum
  • credit grade in Environmental Studies, Journalism, Education, Public Health and any relevant Engineering field.
  • Mean grade of C- (Minus) at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma from recognized/accredited institutions.
