• Prof. James Biu Kung’u attended Water Security and climate change 2018 Conference preparation meeting and CNRD Annual network meeting at Cologne University of Science and Technology Germany from 3rd to 13th October, 2018. This was in preparation for the third Water Security and Climate Change Conference to be held in Nairobi at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies from 3rd to 5th December, 2018.    
  • Prof. James Biu Kung’u from Environmental Science attended a fully funded Training of instructors on ecosystem based disaster risk reduction workshop by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and Festival Cinema Africano, at the University of  Gadja  Mada, Indonesia from 24th -25th March 2019 to attend Africa talks 2019- back to the roots: agriculture and nutrition between old and new Knowledge at Auditorium San Fedele, Milan Italy.
  • Prof. James Biu Kung’u attended the 2nd world International Conference on .Water Security and Climate Change in Cologne, Germany from 18th to 21st September 2017, where he presented a scientific Paper entitled: Climate Change-induced Migration and Water Conflict in Africa. The case of Pastoral Communities in Northern Kenya and Potential of Nature Based Solutions to Water Scarcity in Africa Urban Areas, the case of Nairobi city Kenya.  While attending the conference he was selected to participate in an open discussion forum at Cologne City in a hall between Scientists and the local Community. Kenyatta University welcomed to host the next Water Security and Climate Change world Conference in October. 2018.                        
  • Prof. Kung’u travelled to Szent University Hungary from 14th to 18th May 2018 to give a public lecture under the Erasmus in the faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and UMST University of Medical Sciences and Technology from 10th to 14th July 2018 as an external examiner.
  • The department of Environmental Planning and management organized a workshop and lecture under the Directorate of Research Dissemination workshop under the banner The transition towards a sustainable Sanitation sector and the prospects of innovation in Nairobi on 5th and 6th July, 2018. In the workshop/Lecture Prof. Bernhard Truffer the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Sciences and technology in Switzerland (Eawag) presented a a Paper on Why Geography matters for Sustainability transitions- recent insights from studying global industry dynamics and innovations in basic utility services in the global south, Where students from the department of Environmental Planning and Management, were among the participants.    
  • Dr Richard Kerich represented Kenyatta University at the environmental Educators and trainers meeting held at the Boma Hotel, Nairobi on Tuesday 17th July 2018, where he presented a paper entitled The Status of Environmental Education and development of Education for Sustainable development (ESDA) at Kenyatta University.     
  • Dr. Richard Kerich attended the 26th World Congress on Nursing Care held from 21st to 23rd May2018 in Osaka Japan and gave a lecture on Adaptation Mechanisms and Coping Strategies to the Effects of Climate Variability on Maize Yield With Focus on Matungulu West Machakos County.    
  • Dr. John Njagi Muriuki from the department of Environmental Education and ESDA coordinator in the University has been invited to  participate in a consortium on Education for Sustainable development ‘’dialogue with African universities capacity building for Africa’s Sustainable Development from 29th to 31st Octomber,2017in the UN headquarters in Tokyo. Dr. Muriuki has also been nominated by the VC to visit KOLN in Germany under the Fact Finding Mission in the DAAD funded project learning by Co-Design- Teaching is Research module 2 in January, 2019.
  • Prof. Michael K. Koech from Environmental science has been invited to VIJAYAWADA India, to attend The International Society of Waste Management, Air and Water (AISWMAW) conference in India from 20th to 25th November, 2018 to present a paper entitled Waste Management Status and Future Goals in Kenya.     
  • Prof. Micheal Koech attended an international conference on Solid Wastes Technology and Management in Annapolis, Washington DC, USA and gave a lecture on The role of Environmental Education in the Application of 7R approach of Sustainable Solid Waste Management in Nairobi Kenya from 9th to 16th March 2018.
  • Dr. Joseph Kurauka attended CIRCLE-Institutional Strengthening Programme (ISP) Workshop in Accra Ghana from 17th to 19th October, 2018, the circle participants are drawn among African Commonwealth Universities.
  • Dr. Joseph Kurauka was involved in the case study visit to wollo University, Ethiopia under the circle institutional Strengthening Programme (ISP) between 26th to 29th November, 2018        
  • Dr. Joseph Muriithi Chair Environmental Studies and community Development will attend a PhD defense as an external Reviewer in Delft University of Technology The Netherlands from 3rd to 7th December 2018
  • Dr. Joseph Muriithi  chairman Environmental Community Development participated in a workshop organized by the World Wildlife Fund" (WWF) Germany, the Welthungerhilfe WHH) and the Centre for development Research of the University of Bonn in Cooperation with Welthungerhilfe Kenya and WWF Kenya , at Gardens Hotel , Kilimani, Nairobi on 22nd May 2019.
  • Dr. Sammy Latema visited Brunel University, London as a part of collaboration for grant Proposal writing from 17th -21st June, 2019, during the visit the chair will sit with other participants and exchange ideas on proposal writing.
  • Dr. Sammy Latema will participate in the SASRA Board of Directors delegation to INCURN annual conference which will take place in Chicago, USA, from 22nd July- 2nd August, 2019.
  • Dr. Dorcas Otieno from Environmental community development attended Kenya National Commission to UNESCO (KNATCOM) stakeholder’s forum and UNESCO Chairs side meeting at Mombasa Continental Resort, Mombasa from 8th May – 10th May 2019.
  • Dr. Eric. M. Kioko from Environmental Studies and Community development  represented  the University to University of Cologne Germany in the context of collaborative Research Centre as a Co- investigator. During the visit, Dr Kioko gave a public lecture titled ‘inside the smugglers den: an enthnography of sandalwood smuggling, organized crime and value chain in east Africa’ from 15th -23rd June, 2019.
  • Dr. Salome Muriuki from Environmental Science was invited to take up a fully funded trip by the Department of international development (DFID) Commonwealth Professional Fellowship at Lancaster Environmental Centre, Lancaster University, in the United Kingdom from 28th April – 29th June 2019.
  • Dr. Manguriu was appointed by the Vice Chancellor to be the Director Mombasa Compus effective from 1st May, 2019. As a Director, he will undertake all administrative duties and oversee the delivery of academic programmes at the campus and will be directly answerable to the Vice- Chancellor
  • Dr. Esther Kitur has been invited for the 9th  African RCE Regional Meeting will be held in Kwaluseni, Eswatini from 5 to 7 August 2019. This meeting will be hosted by RCE Eswatini with the support of the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS).
  • . Dr. Gladys Gathuru Chair (Environmental Science) 9th Conference of African Association of Women in Geosciences (CAAWG8) scheduled from 20th to 24th March 2018 in Morocco.
  • Dr. James Koske (Chair EED) attended a training workshop from 9th to 12th April 2018 on threat based design (DBT) in relation to nuclear Security and safety organized by IAEA in conjunction with the Radiation Protection Board of Kenya
