Currently: Lecturer at Kenyatta University, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. I am also a Research Consultant with several local and international organizations. I am a strong supporter of the Women’s Movement in Kenya, spearheading gender equity in partnership with various advocacy groups. Academic Background: Currently writing my Ph.d Thesis, on Single Parenthood, hoping to graduate in December 2013. I have a Master of Arts in Religious Studies, Bachelor of Education(Hons.) as well as Secondary and Primary education. Related Professional Training: I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Communication, (University of Southern California), Monitoring and Evaluation Research Methods, (Population Communications International). My research interests are in African Religion and the Environment, Ethics and Morality basis of Abundant Life and Women Health Issues. Fellowships/Awards: The Population Institute,XXIInd Global Media Award for the Best Radio Program on Health Issues, 2001, Population Communications International/ Packard Media Fellow at the Media Leadership Development Program, at USC and Washington D.C. 2003, Culture and Health Initiatives by Path, 2005, African Religious Philosophy is Society,2006. In addition, I am also actively involved in Community Development, Safe Motherhood initiatives and Supporting Girl-Child Education. I am also a founder Member, Gikuyu Language Association and strong campaigner for mainstreaming of African Languages.
