Location:
The administrative office of the Department of Pathology is situated on the Kenyatta University, School of Health Sciences about 200 m from Gate B.

Internal Links:

Whereas the Department is responsible for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) programme, the Department also services other Departments including: Nursing Sciences, Pharmacy/Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Medical Laboratory Science

External Links:

The Department is initiating links Muhimbili University of Health Sciences and Allied Sciences in Tanzania. There are also discussions with the Institute of Health Sciences, Bostwana and the Oncology Centre in Canberra, Australia.

Research Activities:
The members of staff in the Department are collaborators in research projects with National and International Institutions especially Kenya Medical Research Institute. The current research areas include Malaria and tuberculosis. There are strong inputs from the members of staff to Ministry of Health applied research and case findings.

Specialty and Branding:
The Department is a service department that specifically trains medical doctors. At the time the trainees graduate they are responsible and manage health services within and outside Kenya.

Undergraduate Studies:

The Department is responsible for MBChB programme (Pathology) which covers a

duration of 2 years of full time study.  Each year is divided into 3 semesters.

Postgraduate students:

Currently there are no Masters degree programmes but the Department has PhD

students.
