Mean grade of C+ (plus) at KCSE or equivalent with at least C+ (plus) in the following subjects: Mathematics/Physics, Chemistry/Physical Sciences, Biology/Biological Sciences, English / Kiswahili OR A Diploma with at least a credit from a recognized institution in the following areas: Pharmacy, Nursing, Clinical medicine, Biomedical Laboratory technology, Biomedical sciences, Public Health, Community Health and Nursing, Nutrition or any other health related courses. In addition the candidate should have obtained a C (plain) at KCSE.
Those who had a C- (minus) at KCSE progressed from certificate to any of the above Diploma at Kenyatta University or any other recognized/accredited Institutions

Certification
The degree that will be awarded is Bachelor of Science in Community Health (B.Sc Community Health). In order to qualify for award of degree of B.Sc (Community Health), a candidate must have taken a minimum of forty (52) units.
Course Requirements and Degree Pattern
The Bachelor of Science in Community Health shall extend over a period of four (4) academic
years.
Each academic year shall consist of two (2) semesters for full time students and three (3) sessions
for part-time students. The students will take a maximum of fourteen (14) units each academic year.
Field Attachment/Practicum
This aims at exposing students to actual community health issues and problems. The students will be attached to a relevant health organization for three (3) months, which is expected to give them adequate exposure to the required experience and skills in community health. The module
of study will be regular and institutional based learning (IBP)
Examination Regulations
The Common University examinations regulations governing Undergraduate Degree Programmes shall apply.
Mode of Examination
All units shall be examined at the end of the semester in which they are taken. The assessment of the students' work shall be on basis of percentage (%) marks. The pass mark in all unit courses shall be 50% of the total marks in line with courses in health sciences.
Written Examinations
Examinations shall consist of Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) which shall contribute 30% and University examinations which shall contribute 70%.
Projects
Units involving field work such as projects shall be examined as follows:-
A Supervisor's Report after the field course shall constitute 30%. The project proposal shall comprise 20% and the project report 50%.
Attachments
Units involving field work such as attachment shall be examined as follows:-
A Supervisor's Report after the attachment shall constitute 30%. Oral presentation, logbook, Field Supervisor's Assessment Report and University Supervision shall constitute 70%.
Grading
Each unit shall be out of 100. The mark shall be translated into letter grades as follows:
70% -100% (A),60% - 69% (B) 50% - 59% (C) 49 and below (Fail)
