Dr. Juddy Mwaura obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. Thereafter, she worked as a Research and Development Chemist at HACO Industries Kenya Ltd, before being admitted into the MS/PhD program at Binghamton University New York, USA, in 2008.  She did her research at Binghamton University under the guidance of Prof. Christof Grewer. Her research focused on the membrane-bound transport protein, EAAC1. She employed electrophysiological techniques and site-directed mutagenesis to study the mechanisms by which EAAC1 regulates the levels of the excitatory neurotransmitter, glutamate, in the brain. She joined Kenyatta University as a lecturer in 2014, following her relocation back to Kenya.
