Introduction

The Hospitality and Tourism industry is one of the largest foreign exchange earners in Kenya. The local hospitality and tourism industry faces many challenges in meeting the diverse needs of the tourism markets and is surrounded by many developmental and contextual issues.  Professionals in this industry should be competent to address these challenges.  This can only be achieved through appropriate context-based need-driven training and education.
The School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, Kenyatta University, seeks to fill identified gaps in advanced training and education in the local hospitality and tourism industries.  The School of Hospitality and Tourism, recognizes that there is an ever increasing demand for further training and education as well as a need to expand the scope and aggregate capacity to meet future demand.

Our Mission
The mission of the School is to provide high quality professional instruction, research and community service in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

The overarching goal of the School of Hospitality and Tourism is to elevate the quality of Hospitality and Tourism products and services nationally, to this end, we are committed to:

  • creating programs and supporting training, professional growth and development for all employees in the hospitality and tourism industry.
Research Interests
The School of Hospitality and Tourism views research as being a key factor towards ensuring that the School is at the leading edge in industry specializations.  By encouraging our faculty and graduates to publish in academic journals, we ensure that the institution maintains a competitive edge in Hospitality & Tourism research and development.
The School of Hospitality and Tourism currently offers a Doctoral programme for candidates with an excellent academic background who have a Master's Degree. The Doctoral researchers have full access to all of the University's excellent data and research journal collections.

The School of Hospitality and Tourism has a presence in both Kenyatta University, Main Campus Nairobi and  Kenyatta University Mombasa Campus

Structure of the School
