Since the first graduation ceremony held in 1985 to date, KU has been undertaking alumni functions. under the auspices of a university directorate. However, an institutional audit at Kenyatta University by CUE identified the critical role played by the alumni in supporting the University mandate. The Commission therefore recommended the need to register the Alumni Association with the Registrar of Societies.
