Kenyatta University: Walking Together for a Diabetes-Free Future

Kenyatta University today, 14th November, 2025 joined the global community in marking World Diabetes Day through a vibrant awareness walk held on campus. The event was officially flagged off by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Paul K. Wainaina, who also participated in the walk alongside students, staff, and members of the university community.

The awareness walk aimed to promote understanding of diabetes, encourage preventive health practices, and inspire collective responsibility in the fight against the growing burden of non-communicable diseases.

Speaking during the event, Prof. Wainaina emphasized the University’s commitment to fostering a healthy learning and working environment, noting that health education and wellness remain key pillars in the institution’s mission.

The walk not only highlighted the importance of regular health screening and lifestyle management but also strengthened community engagement within the University. Through such initiatives, Kenyatta University continues to champion preventive health measures and empower its community with the knowledge needed to manage and prevent diabetes.
