Prof. John Geofrey Mugubi, Associate Professor of Film and Theatre Arts at Kenyatta University, is currently participating in the 2025 CILECT Congress, taking place from 27th to 31st October 2025 at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico.
The Congress, themed “The Transformative Power of Conscience in Twenty-First Century Cinema,” has brought together film educators, researchers, and industry practitioners from across the globe to explore how ethics, diversity, and innovation continue to shape the future of film education.
Prof. Mugubi is attending the global gathering as a representative of both Kenyatta University and the African Regional Association (CARA) of CILECT—the World Association of Film and Television Schools. His participation in the Congress marks an important step in strengthening film training networks, fostering creative collaborations, and amplifying African voices in global film discourse.
During the event, delegates are engaging in high-level discussions on the ethical dimensions of cinematic storytelling, new pedagogical models for creative education, and the evolving role of film schools in addressing social responsibility through visual narratives.
