Kenyatta University has officially rolled out medical education at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), marking a major milestone in the training of its medical students.
The Vice-Chancellor of Kenyatta University, Prof. Paul K. Wainaina, together with the Chief Executive Officer of KUTRRH, Dr. Zeinab Gura, presided over the landmark event that ushers in clinical training for Kenyatta University medical students. The development follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the university and the hospital in December, paving the way for structured clinical placements at the state-of-the-art facility.
The rollout was accompanied by the leadership of the Kenyatta University Students Association (KUSA), led by Chairperson Mr. Samuel Thuku. Also present was Dr. Muhsin Jaffar, who played a key role as the first petitioner to the National Assembly regarding student access to the hospital for training purposes.
During the visit, the university and hospital leadership conducted an inspection of the facilities that students will begin using for their clinical training. The engagement underscored the institutions’ shared commitment to delivering high-quality medical education, strengthening hands-on training, and improving healthcare service delivery through academic–clinical collaboration.
The integration of Kenyatta University medical students into KUTRRH is expected to enhance experiential learning, research opportunities, and the production of competent healthcare professionals aligned with national and global standards.
