Botswana international students pursuing a Masters of Science in Nephrology Nursing at Kenyatta University, class of 2023/24, recently donated medical equipment to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Renal Unit. Eleven of them had recently completed their clinical attachment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). The group comprised 10 nephrology nursing students and one pediatric nursing student, all dedicated to advancing their expertise in specialised nursing care.
During their attachment, the students had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in patient care, particularly in the renal unit. As a token of appreciation for the invaluable learning experience and in recognition of the KNH Renal Unit’s needs, the group donated portable Privacy Ward Screens to the Unit. These screens will enhance patient privacy and improve the overall care environment for individuals undergoing treatment.
The generous donation reflects the students’ commitment to contributing positively to healthcare settings and supporting the institutions that helped shape their professional growth.
Speaking about the initiative, the group expressed gratitude to the KNH team for its mentorship and to Kenyatta University for facilitating their clinical training. This gesture highlights the spirit of collaboration and giving back that KU fosters among its students. It also strengthens the bonds between Botswana and Kenya in advancing healthcare education and service delivery.
The team also extended appreciation to the KU Admissions Office, International Students Office, and Dr. Sarah Bett, former Chairperson of Department of Medical Surgical Nursing and Pre-Clinical Sciences, for their immense support.
Kenyatta University hosts a vibrant community of international students from over 25 nationalities pursuing different programmes at various levels, ranging from diploma to postgraduate.
