GTRCMC JAMAICA PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO KENYATTA UNIVERSITY & GTRCMC-EA

Following the successful conclusion of the 4th Global Tourism Resilience Day, Conference and Expo (GTRDCE) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi from 16th – 18th February 2026. The Jamaica team paid a courtesy visit to Kenyatta University and were received by Prof. John Okumu the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Caroline Thoruwa DVC RIO, Prof. Mildred Nawiri Registrar Corporate Affairs, Dr. Albert Kariuki Director GTRCMC-EA, Prof. Lucy Maina GTRCMC-EA Board Chair and former Director GTRCMC-EA Dr. Esther Munyiri.
Hon. Edmund Bartlett the Founder and Co-Chair GTRCMC and Minister of Tourism Jamaica and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to the University. The delegation from Jamaica included: Prof. Lloyd Waller – Executive Director – GTRCMC – Jamaica, David Dobson – Chief Technical Officer, Ministry of Tourism, Jamaica Jacqueline Smalling – Director, Global Operations and Corporate Resources, Christina Edwards – Director of International Affairs, Ministry of Tourism Jamaica, Fiona Fennell – Public Relations  and Communications Manager Jamaica Tourist Board and Damion Gordon – Senior Research Fellow, GTRCMC
The team was also accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism and wildlife Mr. Robert Kamiti Principal / Chief Tourism officer and Mr. Hezekiel Gikambi Director for public communication / information.
The consultative meeting solidified the commitment of all stakeholders in supporting the centre to continue strengthening regional capacity, expanding training and research  and practical readiness at destination level.
