Kenyatta University on Thursday, 20th November 2025, welcomed Mr. Wouter te Kloeze, Development Director at St. Antony’s College, University of Oxford, for a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor. The meeting, held in the Vice-Chancellor’s Boardroom, brought together senior University officials to explore enhanced opportunities for academic mobility, research collaboration, and postgraduate training for African scholars.
Mr. Kloeze’s visit focused on raising awareness of the prestigious Eni-Oxford African Scholarship Programme, a fully funded postgraduate initiative that supports outstanding African graduates to pursue master’s studies at the University of Oxford. He emphasised the programme’s commitment to nurturing leadership, advancing Africa-focused research, and equipping scholars with skills essential for contributing to the continent’s development.
During engagements with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, and directors overseeing International Programmes, Student Affairs, and Career Development, discussions highlighted the need to strengthen support systems for KU students aspiring to join competitive global scholarship programmes. Areas of focus included scholarship sensitisation forums, structured mentorship pathways, and targeted academic advising to guide eligible applicants through rigorous international selection processes.
The courtesy call reaffirmed the potential for deeper collaboration between Kenyatta University and St. Antony’s College, with both institutions expressing interest in expanding academic links and exploring co-designed initiatives that enhance the global reach of KU’s academic community. The discussions also explored opportunities for collaborative research, visiting scholar engagements, and shared platforms for knowledge exchange aligned with the University’s internationalisation agenda.
