DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC THEORY

  • TUTORIAL FELLOW

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Master’s Degree: A Master of Economics, or an equivalent advanced degree in the field of economics from Kenyatta University or any other recognized university.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree: An undergraduate degree in Economics from Kenyatta University or any other recognized institution. The candidate must have attained First class honours or Second class honours Upper Division degree.
  3. PhD Registration: The candidate must be ready to enrol for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics, or show clear readiness to enrol in one; proof of registration will be an added advantage.
  4. Teaching experience at the University level will be an added advantage.

NORTH COAST BEACH HOTEL- KILIFI

2.1 BANQUETING SUPERVISOR

Scope and General Purpose

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing all banqueting and events operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery, coordinating event setups and breakdowns, supervising banqueting staff, and ensuring guest satisfaction. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Supervise and coordinate all banqueting events, including weddings, conferences, corporate meetings, and social functions from setup to breakdown.
  2. Ensure all event spaces are set up according to client specifications and hotel standards, including table layouts, linen, glassware, and crockery.
  3.  Coordinate with the kitchen team on menu preparation, food delivery, plating, and special dietary requirements.
  4. Liaise with clients before events to confirm arrangements and address any concerns, ensuring all requirements are met.
  5. Supervise, guide, and direct F&B staff during events, assigning duties and ensuring adherence to service standards.
  6. Train and mentor F&B staff on service etiquette, food safety, and operational procedures.
  7. Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event debriefings with F&B staff to ensure smooth execution and continuous improvement.
  8. Monitor guest satisfaction during events, addressing complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
  9. Manage inventory of banqueting equipment, linen, glassware, crockery, and cutlery, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  10. Conduct regular stock takes and prepare inventory reports, identifying shortages or damaged items.
  11. Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, and health and safety regulations at all times.
  12. Prepare event orders (BEOs), post-event reports, and maintain accurate records of all functions.
  13. Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, front office, and audio-visual teams for seamless event execution.
  14.  Handle cash and payment processing for events, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
  15. Minimize food and beverage waste and control costs to ensure profitability.
  16. Report maintenance issues in event spaces and follow up on repairs with the maintenance team.
  17. Support the sales team in showing event spaces to potential clients and converting inquiries into bookings.
  18. Organize and execute special theme events, gala dinners, and seasonal functions.
  19. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Food & Beverage Manager or General Manager.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  1. Diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or Food & Beverage Service from a recognized institution. A relevant Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in banqueting, events, or food & beverage service with at least 2 years in a supervisory role in a 3-5 star hotel.
  3. Excellent leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  4. Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Proficiency in hotel software (e.g., Micros, Opera) will be an added advantage.
  6. Knowledge of HACCP, food safety regulations, and health and safety standards.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, guests, and staff.
  8. Ability to work under pressure, handle challenging situations, and remain calm during busy events.
  9. Flexible working hours including weekends, public holidays, and late evenings.
  10. Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and consistency.
  11. Must be a Kenyan Citizen.

DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SURGERY

  • PROFESSOR

  Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. An earned PhD Degree or its equivalent in Medicine or Public Health from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. Master’s Degree or its equivalent with specialization in Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery or  Paediatrics from an accredited and recognized University.
  3. At least three (3) years of university teaching experience as Associate Professor. 
  4. Successfully supervised at least five (5) Postgraduate students to completion and at least two (2) at Doctoral Level since being appointed Associate Professor.
  5. A minimum of seven (7) publication articles, of which at least five (5) should be from articles in refereed scholarly journals after being appointed Associate Professor.
  6. Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group after being appointed as Associate Professor.
  7. Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars and workshops.
  8. Registration by the KMPDC and a valid practicing license.
  • ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. An earned PhD Degree or its equivalent in Medicine or Public Health from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. Master’s Degree or its equivalent with specialization in Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, or  Paediatrics from an accredited and recognized University
  3. At least three (3) years of university teaching experience as Senior Lecturer.
  4. A minimum of six (6) cumulative publication articles of which four (4) are from articles in refereed scholarly journals after being appointed Senior Lecturer.
  5. Successful supervision of at least four (4) postgraduate students, including at least one (1) doctoral student as Senior Lecturer.
  6. Evidence of applying for a grant either individually or as a group after being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
  7. Evidence of attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops.
  8. Registration by the KMPDC and a valid practicing license.
  • SENIOR LECTURER 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. An earned PhD Degree or its equivalent in Medicine or Public Health from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. Master’s Degree or its equivalent with specialization in Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery or  Paediatrics from an accredited and recognized University
  3. At least three (3) years of teaching experience at University level as Lecturer or research/industry experience.
  4. A minimum of four (4) cumulative publication articles, of which three (3) are from articles in refereed scholarly journals after being appointed Lecturer
  5. Successful supervision of at least three (3) postgraduate students as Lecturer.
  6. Registration by the KMPDC and a valid practicing license.
  • LECTURER 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. Master’s Degree or its equivalent with specialization in Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery or Paediatrics from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. At least three (3) years of university teaching or Research/ Industry experience.
  3. Registration by the KMPDC and a valid practicing license.
  4. PhD. will be an added advantage.
  5. Non PhD. Applicants must be prepared to pursue a PhD. in the specified areas of Specialization 

POST MODERN LIBRARY

  •  SENIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT GRADE C/D

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Lend and receive information resources.
  2. Provide instruction in the access, use, and evaluation of library resources for individuals and groups in the university.
  3. Administration of library user surveys.
  4. Conduct library orientation for new library users.
  5. Catalogue and classify information resources by using the Library of Congress classification scheme.
  6. Upload documents to the institutional repository by scanning the hard copies to promote global access through the open access programme of library resources.
  7. Identify metadata from researchers’ profiles by searching for their publications and uploading them to promote easy filtering and access of information in the university library.
  8. Tag and barcode information materials to promote security and accountability of materials issued/ lent out.
  9. Serve as help desk to provide information to users by responding to enquiries and emerging issues appropriately in the university library.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Must be holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Information Science from a recognized Institution.
  2. At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in an academic library.
  3. Competent in relevant Library ICT applications.
  4. Knowledge of a Library Integrated Management System.

Skills Required for the Job

  1. Knowledge of the Koha Library Information Management System.
  2. Library ICT applications.
  3. Knowledge of online resources.
  4. Reference and information services provision skills
  5. Cataloguing and classification skills.
  6. Digital preservation and archiving.
  7. Good communication skills.

A competitive remuneration package, which includes basic salary, house allowance, and medical cover as per the University Scheme, will be provided.

Tutorial Fellows are employed on a one (1) year renewable contract up to a maximum of three (3) years.
