Kenyatta University (KU) on Tuesday, 25th November 2025, hosted a delegation from Puntland State University (PSU), Somalia, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohamud Hamid, for a courtesy call aimed at strengthening academic collaboration.
The meeting, held at the Mandela A Boardroom, was received on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Waceke Wanjohi, alongside senior members of KU management and faculty.
Discussions focused on exploring potential collaboration in the development of a Master’s programme curriculum within the Faculty of Law and the Department of Public Administration. The engagement underscored both institutions’ shared commitment to academic excellence, research, and capacity building in governance and legal studies.
The Puntland State University delegation comprised senior academic and technical staff, including researchers and advisors, while Kenyatta University was represented by leadership from the School of Law, Arts and Social Sciences, the Department of Public Policy and Administration, the Department of Public Law, and directors from key research and innovation centres.
Puntland State University, a public institution based in Garowe, Puntland, Somalia, has a rich history that began as a women’s school offering business-related courses before evolving into a fully-fledged public university. Today, PSU comprises five faculties: Business and Economics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Health Sciences, and Shari’a and Law.
The courtesy call reaffirmed Kenyatta University’s commitment to regional and international partnerships that promote knowledge exchange, curriculum development, and shared academic growth.
